Welcome

The IOP-HU Early Career Researcher Conference on Energising Materials 2024

3rd IOP-HU Early Career Researcher Workshop at CSMB, HU Berlin

About CSMB

At the Center for the Science of Materials (CSMB), Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU), we are creating a unique knowledge base to develop advanced materials and technologies capable of reshaping our daily life. Our focus lies on discovering and exploring new materials, seeking to understand their function and to uncover their hidden potential. We are building bridges, connecting diverse fields and perspectives, to overcome traditional boundaries and to foster innovation. Operating in a transdisciplinary, inclusive manner at the interface of art and design, life and data sciences, physics and chemistry, our mission is to turn visions and concepts into tangible reality, achieved through excellence in education, research, and innovation. We are convinced that materials research is able to provide transformative solutions and experiences. About IOP

The Institute of Physics (IOP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is the leading research institute in China in condensed matter physics and related fields. Through 95 years of development, IOP has become a comprehensive and multi-disciplinary research organization engaged in research on basic and applied physics. Its current research activities concentrate on condensed matter physics, optical physics, atomic and molecular physics, plasma physics, soft matter physics, and condensed matter theory and computation physics. More Information about IOP can be found at www.iop.cas.cn.

About the early career researcher conference

The conference is a two–day event which will take place on November 28-29 in Berlin.

Since 2020, IOP-HU events have been committed to supporting extraordinary talent in materials science and physics across the globe. The early career researcher conference series is open to early career researchers looking to present their research and interact with leading experts in their fields. Each year, experts and early career researchers present and discuss interdisciplinary work around a single topic, with contributions from material physics, condensed matter physics, optical physics, atomic and molecular physics, soft matter physics, condensed matter theory, computation physics, and related fields.

The conference further aims at providing early career researchers with mentoring and a stimulating environment to pursue further research in China and Germany, aided with available postdoctoral funding opportunities such as the IOP-Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellowship in Physics, the IOP International Young Scientist Fellowship the CAS President's International Fellowship Initiative, the DAAD and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

Accommodation support will be available for selected oral presentations. Up to ten travel awards will be granted to registered participants for traveling and visiting IOP in Beijing at their convenience.

Day 1: PI program and discussions with early career researchers
